[The feed turns on first to show Dirk's Wingull, perched neatly atop his hair as per usual, looking pleased as punch. Dirk then tilts it down to show his own face, wearing a crooked grin as he brings it down from where he'd obviously been holding it up to show the Pokémon off on his gear.]

So as a generalized guesstimation, how long does it take most people to name their Pokémon? Curiosity, since it took me forever to name this little asshole.

His name's Squarewave, by the way.

Hey, Dave, when do you figure we ought to get the fuck out of here and stop mooching off your best friend and his sister?

A few minutes or so...I just pick the video game name that works best. My first partner's name was "Kirby"....

That's a good way to start, actually. Except now I can't name one Kirby 'cause I'd feel unoriginal.

What other games have you played? What's your favorite title? Or your favorite genre??

Most of what I've played is older stuff, I guess. I'm not overmuch of a gamer but I like the retro classics. Simple stuff-- Mario, Kirby, Sonic the Hedgehog. I played a couple of the Pokémon games, actually, dunno if they were games where you're from.

They were. The Pokemon titles, versions red and blue...I played both of them! Being inside them...it's something like a dream, don't you think? What starter did you pick back then?

I liked to choose a different starter each time...but maybe Bulbasaur...?

Bulbasaur was always good if you were looking for an easy tank. Good choice.

I thought it had a really friendly expression, too...which was nice to have. I haven't met many people who played those games, yet...you're one of the first ones.
